Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study was to explore the experiences of the Syrian type 2 diabetic females and the way they control it. Methods: A qualitative design based on the content analysis approach was used to collect data and analyze the females' experiences with type 2 diabetes. Semi-structured interviews carried out with 12 females who had visited the Diabetic Center in Lattakia from March to December 2011. Finding: Seven major themes emerged out of the study as strategies for diabetes control: responsibility taking, illness confirmation, acquiring diabetes knowledge, self-care, sociofamily support, hopefulness and religious beliefs. Conclusion: The findings of the study can be used to empower Syrian diabetic population and can provide nurses and other health professionals with more profound understanding of how the Syrian with diabetes view their lives and their sources of strength.

Abstract

Aims: The aim of the present study is to evaluate the amount of tilapia fish consumption and the relationship between its consumption amount and some demographic characteristics Such as gender, age, occupation, education, marital status, occupation, number of household members and income.
Methods: The statistical population of this research is the whole country. A questionnaire was designed and sent to people electronically through virtual space. Correlation tests were used to evaluate the number of fish purchases per year as well as the amount of each purchase from the output of SPSS software and to investigate the existence of a significant relationship between consumption and demographic characteristics.
Findings: The results showed that Most of the female respondents are married, aged 20 to 35, employed and have bachelor's and master's degrees. Most of them are employees and earn between 3 and 6 million tomans. It was also found that most households (54%) buy fish up to 20 times a year. The average number of times of buying fish per year by the households of the consumption community was 45 times. Most households in the consumer society buy 2 kg of fish each time they buy. The number of households that consume more than 10 kg of fish per purchase was 3.3%. According to the obtained information, the average amount of fish per purchase was calculated to be 8 kg. The per capita consumption of tilapia in households consuming this fish was 4.2 kg.

Abstract

Sheet metal components frequently are used in industry. There are several methods to produce them. Progressive die one of the most widely applied devices to sheet metal components manufacturing. The progressive dies reduce the time and cost of producing complex sheet metal components. However, the design and manufacture of these dies are difficult. CAD/CAM systems have been proved to be very useful tools for this task. In this paper, two the important stages of die design process, Nesting and Piloting system are studied. By using fuzzy set theory and three fuzzy rules: scrap percentage, type of pilots, distance between pilots, the optimum state of nesting and piloting is determined. These rules are applied according to expert comments and industrial observations. According to our investigation, piloting accuracy impresses the final nesting design, thus a new fuzzy rule based on distance between pilots is proposed in this paper. The presented method is based on algebra algorithm that it determines suitable and exact place of semi-direct and indirect pilots and decrease calculation time. Three components taken from industry and previous papers are used to show the capability of the proposed method.

Abstract

Today, use of functional food, such as probiotic products, is important due to their health benefits against diseases. In this study, the essential oil of Ducrosia anethifolia and Teucrium polium (DAEO and TPEO, respectively) were added to probiotic yogurt (Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum bacteria) to investigate their effects on the survival of probiotic bacteria during 21 days and assess its various properties. The results showed upon increasing the concentration of DAEO and TPEO, the value of acidity and viscosity of yogurt treatments increased, and the pH and syneresis showed a decreasing trend (P<0.05). The survivability of the investigated probiotic bacteria demonstrated a decreased trend during storage in all treatments, but finally, the number of probiotic bacteria in all treatments was significantly higher than that of the control samples. Based on the results of all tests, the addition of 0.03% of DAEO is the best way to realize the goals of the research.

Abstract

Energy and agriculture sectors play a key role in Iran's economy as the former provides considerable share of the public budget and the latter contributes significantly to employment, non-oil exports, and food self-sufficiency. Iranian government is following an energy subsidy targeting policy to increase energy (especially exhaustible ones) efficiency. Obviously, this will influence, among others, energy price and consumption, cost of production and, finally, food price. Therefore, the current study focused on the nexus between energy consumption and food price in Iranian agriculture. Since such relationships may differ as food consumption varies, the quantile regression model was applied and estimated using data for the period 1966-2017. Main findings revealed the direct and significant impact of energy consumption and globalization index on food price in the 0.75th quantile, while exchange rate showed the same effect in 0.25th and 0.75th quantiles. Furthermore, money supply was explored as another driver for food price in all quantiles.
