Abstract
A completely random designed electronic questionnaire was distributed in the country's cyberspace. The Friedman test was used to rank the factors and the Mann-Whitney U was used to compare the differences between the studied groups. Results: 941 Iranians with an average age of 34 years, 33.2% of whom had a bachelor's degree, had 3 to 6 years of experience in keeping aquariums. 34% kept two species and an average of 10 ornamental fish. Their favorite species were guppy, discus, and clownfish, respectively. Disease control and cleaning methods were among their most important problems. People over 40 years of age had more difficulty in choosing fish than younger people, and on the other hand, they had more difficulty in regulating temperature and oxygenation than younger people. People with less than a diploma had more difficulty in disease control, cleaning methods, and using aquatic plants. People with little experience in fish selection and disease control, and people with experience and more than 10 fish in their aquariums, such as employees, had more difficulty cleaning the aquarium than housewives. In addition, people living in the main ornamental fish producing provinces in the country had more difficulty cleaning the aquarium and controlling disease, but they had less difficulty in selecting fish and feeding them. Conclusion: The sociological results can be used to boost the ornamental fish market and solve problems through targeted training, creating a culture of aquarium maintenance in ensuring mental health and producing desirable and superior species.
